Sunday, 12th July 2015
A unique opportunity to walk across the track bed of the Royal Albert Bridge from Saltash Railway Station on Sunday, 12th July 2015 in celebration of the completion of a 6 year major refurbishment costing £20M.
SOLD OUT!
Thank you for your interest. We regret there can be no further tickets issued.
LATEST UPDATE - 6 JULY 2015 - Only one week
to your Royal Albert Bridge walk and we look forward to welcoming you to
Saltash Railway Station on Sunday, 12 July.
The nearest car park to the Railway Station is Alexandra Square, near
Saltash Guildhall but all Saltash car parks are free all day on Sundays and are
within walking distance of the Railway Station in Culver Road.
Whilst it is unlikely to impact on your journey early in the morning we wish to inform you that 3 lanes of the Tamar Road Bridge will be closed to traffic on Sunday, 12 July due to essential works so we recommend you leave extra time for your journey.
Remember that you need to bring with you a signed Indemnity Form for every individual walking and a copy of the receipt email from Hall For Cornwall – this is your e-ticket. This will be exchanged for your Bridge walk ticket. There will be no further communication from Hall For Cornwall.
We would like to draw your attention to the information contained within the Indemnity Form, in particular the Safety Requirements that stress that old clothes and suitable footwear, eg boots or stout shoes, are worn.
Following your walk across the Royal Albert Bridge, the Tamar Road bridge will be closed to pedestrians for your return journey. However, there will be a (free) shuttle bus and coaches available in the Tamar bridge car park. The bus will stop at the end of the bridge and it will also make a stop at Saltash Waterside/Ashtorre Rock. Also, from Saltash Passage - Tamar River Sailing Club pontoon, a 5 minute downhill walk from the bridge, there will be a (free) small ferry boat taking passengers to Saltash Waterside/Ashtorre Rock. However, please note, the boat only takes 40 people at a time so there may be a queue for this service.
At Ashtorre Rock (until 9.15 am) breakfast consisting of ham, egg, tomato, beans and bread roll is available for £2.50. Croissants, at £1.00, will also be available on the first floor. Teas and coffees at £1.00 are available on either floor.
Just Be Coffee Wine Lounge at Waterside will be open from 8.00 am (ish) for refreshments.
Souvenir bridge walk certificates (free) will be available for collection at Ashtorre Rock.
An exhibition of Royal Albert Bridge artefacts and photographs from the refurbishment will be on display at Ashtorre Rock.
We are also planning for a hopper bus on a continuous loop from Ashtorre Rock to Fore Street, etc.
Emergency ‘phone contact on 12 July - 07818801463

This iconic structure built in 1859 by the genius that was Mr Isambard Kingdom Brunel, still carries the only main line rail link into Cornwall. This rare opportunity can only happen early on a Sunday morning courtesy of, and supported by, Network Rail. Numbers are limited to 475 people (over the age of 14). Escorted groups of up to 40 people will depart at 10 minute intervals, giving ample time to take full advantage of this amazing Victorian engineering structure from a unique vantage point. This is a photo opportunity not to be missed!
